Can't remove programs from "Add or Remove Programs" even after deleting from registry

Hi,
I wanted to remove some programs using "Add or Remove Programs" but couldn't.
I followed some instructions from Microsoft on how to remove them by deleting the relevant files from the registry.
But now the programs i want rid of in  "Add or Remove
Programs" have a setup icon to the left of the name and there is no remove button.
Where can i  go from here?
